Xinxing Temple celebrates 200th anniversary in Chiayi City

The Xinxing Temple in Chiayi City celebrated its 200th anniversary and the birthday of the God of Prosperity (Fude Zhengshen) on September 20. Established in 1827 during the Daoguang era of the Qing Dynasty, the temple is noted as the only temple in Chiayi constructed entirely of stone.

Chiayi Mayor Huang Min-hui attended the ceremony to offer prayers for local peace and prosperity. The temple was originally founded through donations from local gentry to the land of Xue Tiansong. Over two centuries, the temple has served as a spiritual center for the Caodiwei area, which has since developed into a modern residential and commercial district.
