Xinzhuang Ciyou Temple hosts North Taiwan Mazu Culture Festival

The 2026 North Taiwan Mazu Culture Festival will commence on September 22, hosted by Xinzhuang Ciyou Temple to celebrate its 340th anniversary. The event features 28 Mazu deities arriving to bless the region.

Key traditional ceremonies include the Sanxian Ancient Ritual on September 24 and a peace procession on October 3. In collaboration with the New Taipei City Civil Affairs Bureau, the festival offers various cultural experiences such as Hanfu dressing, urban mystery-solving games, and traditional activities like 'drilling through the sedan chair'.

To encourage participation, organizers have announced competitions for short videos, photography, divination, and creative deity costumes, with total prizes amounting to 300,000 TWD. The festival aims to transform the historic temple street into an interactive cultural space with themed lighting and art installations.
