Xinzhuang Elementary School transforms into KIST experimental school

Xinzhuang Elementary School in Tuku Township, Yunlin County, has officially transitioned into a KIST public-run, privately-managed experimental school. The transformation, aimed at addressing challenges posed by declining student numbers due to low birth rates, was marked by an unveiling ceremony attended by Yunlin County Magistrate Chang Li-shan and representatives from the Cheng-Chih Education Foundation and Chin-Cheng Enterprise.

The KIST educational model focuses on cultivating character, learning ability, and cultural literacy. This initiative represents a public-private partnership where the Cheng-Chih Education Foundation provides professional support for teacher training and curriculum development, while Chin-Cheng Enterprise contributes educational resources.

Moving forward, the school plans to integrate local industry, culture, and community resources to develop specialized curricula that balance basic academic skills with autonomous learning and character education. This model serves as a pilot for sustainable schooling and educational innovation in rural areas.
