Xiong Jin sentenced to 30 years for Newark Airport knife attack

Xiong Jin, 56, has been sentenced to 30 years in prison for an attempted murder at Newark Liberty International Airport. Jin pleaded guilty to the August 2024 attack at Terminal A, where he used a three-inch fixed-blade knife to slash the face of a 36-year-old woman from North Carolina.

The attack occurred on August 25, 2024, and was witnessed by Port Authority Police officers patrolling the terminal. The victim required more than a dozen stitches to treat her wounds. Due to a prior criminal history involving aggravated assault convictions, Jin was tried as a persistent offender. He must serve more than 25 years before becoming eligible for parole.
