Xizhou Riverside Park officially opens in Changhua County
Changhua County Magistrate Wang Hui-mei attended the opening ceremony of Xizhou Riverside Park, marking the transformation of the northern end of the Xiluo Bridge. The 3.6-hectare park was completed in eight months with a total construction cost of 45 million TWD, fully funded by the county government.
The park integrates local history and hydrological memory into its design, preserving existing painted rice fields and military bunkers. It features a historical interpretation trail that depicts the evolution from early bamboo raft crossings to the prosperity of the sugar railway era. The layout uses the Xiluo Bridge as a central axis, incorporating a “heart” motif to create a dual-heart shaped recreational space.
Designed for all ages, the park includes diverse facilities such as children's play equipment, a scooter track, multi-functional lawns, adventure playgrounds, and fitness facilities for seniors. This project represents the 19th inclusive characteristic park under the county's “one township, one characteristic park” policy.
