XL Smart tops Indonesia 5G speed rankings in Ookla and Opensignal tests

XL Smart (PT XLSmart Telecom Sejahtera Tbk) was recognized as Indonesia’s top mobile network in the first half of 2026 by Ookla’s Speedtest Awards. It earned Best Mobile Network Indonesia, Best 5G Network, Fastest 5G, and Best 5G Video Experience, with a Connectivity Score of 72.12 for Best 5G Network, 71.74 for Best Mobile Network, a Speed Score of 51.29 for Fastest 5G, and a Video Score of 91.6. The network now covers more than 50 cities and regencies, aiming for 88 by the end of 2026, supported by over 253,000 base stations serving about 69 million customers.

Opensignal’s July 2026 Mobile Network Experience report also placed XL ahead of rivals Telkomsel and Indosat across all speed metrics. XL recorded an overall download speed of 40.9 Mbps, a 5G download speed of 135.4 Mbps, and an upload speed of 15.3 Mbps (5G upload 27 Mbps). Its 5G availability was 52.8 % of user time, compared with 44.6 % for Indosat and 26.2 % for Telkomsel. While Telkomsel retained the highest coverage score, XL’s rapid 5G speed gains were highlighted as a key competitive advantage.
