XLSmart expands 5G network to 101 Indonesian cities
XLSmart is accelerating its 5G network expansion across Indonesia following the acquisition of a 50 MHz bandwidth allocation in the 2.6 GHz frequency band from the Ministry of Communication and Digital (Komdigi) in July 2026.
Chief Technology Officer Shurish Subbramaniam stated that the company began operating the new spectrum on August 5, 2026, successfully activating it across all existing 5G sites within three weeks. The company aims to expand its 5G coverage from 88 cities at the start of the year to 101 cities by the end of 2026, including locations such as Lombok and Malang.
The expansion is intended to provide true 5G speeds to approximately 50% of the population. This service will be available across all XLSmart brands, including XL, Smartfren, and Axis, without distinction in network quality.
