Xodus Nexus brings Xbox Game Pass to Linux and Steam Deck
The open-source project Xodus Nexus has achieved a significant breakthrough by allowing Linux users to play Xbox Game Pass titles directly on their operating systems. By utilizing Proton as a compatibility layer to translate Windows game commands into Linux-compatible formats, the tool enables users to log into Microsoft accounts, browse their game libraries, and install games from the Xbox Game Pass store.
A recent update (version 0.3.8) has specifically optimized support for Valve’s Steam Deck and other SteamOS devices. This update introduces improved controller navigation, allowing users to manage installations and menus using standard controller buttons, similar to the SteamOS experience. While the developer notes that Steam Deck support remains experimental, the software now includes features such as Xbox achievements, game screenshots, and improved handling of licensing errors and connection issues.
Supported titles currently include popular games such as ‘Gears of War: E-Day’, ‘Minecraft Dungeons II’, ‘Forza Horizon 6’, ‘No Man’s Sky’, and ‘Sea of Thieves’, with multiplayer functionality reported to be operational.
