Xonacatlán municipal government closes town hall to evade labor embargoes

The municipal government of Xonacatlán, led by Joaquín Ruiz Esquivel, closed its town hall to the public under the guise of a “reforestation” activity to evade legal proceedings.

This closure prevented labor actuaries from the Secretariat of Labor from serving three embargo notices related to unpaid debts from previous unjustified dismissals. The legal actions involve claims from former employees of the 2010-2012 administration. Officials from the State Conciliation and Arbitration Tribunal (TECA) have previously noted a lack of willingness from the current administration to comply with labor court summons.
