Xpeng and Tesla Accelerate Mass Production of Humanoid Robots

Xpeng has begun small‑batch trial production of its humanoid robot at its Guangzhou factory, and the mass‑production line is in the final integration stage. The company plans to achieve full series production in 2026 and to deploy the robots in Xpeng stores and other commercial settings from 2027 onward.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk announced during the 2026 fiscal second‑quarter earnings call that the Optimus humanoid robot is now being produced at the Fremont, California plant. He stressed that unlike viral online demos, Optimus is not scripted or remotely controlled; it learns tasks by observing its environment, aiming to become the first robot with general‑purpose capabilities.
