XPeng launches humanoid robot production and European charging expansion

Chinese manufacturer XPeng has announced significant advancements in both its robotics and charging infrastructure divisions. In Guangzhou, the company has launched the world’s first automated production line dedicated to advanced humanoid robots. The company showcased its IRON robot, which features 76 degrees of freedom and utilizes three Turing AI chips capable of delivering 2,250 TOPS. The production process is over 80% automated, marking a transition from R&D prototyping to mass manufacturing.

Simultaneously, XPeng is expanding its footprint in Europe. CEO He Xiaopeng stated that the company aims to deploy more than 4,000 fast-charging points across 31 European countries and regions by 2028. To support this, XPeng has partnered with the startup Elmi Power to secure locations in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. The charging stations are expected to utilize battery buffer technology, where stationary batteries store energy from the grid to provide high-power charging during use.
