Xpeng names robotaxi ‘Yoyo’ as it targets driverless service
Xpeng has officially named its robotaxi service ‘Xpeng Yoyo’ (Chinese: ‘小鹏悠游’), signaling a move toward the commercialization of its autonomous mobility business. The vehicle is based on the company’s flagship GX model and is designed to provide a relaxed travel experience.
Technologically, the Yoyo is equipped with four self-developed Turing AI chips providing 3,000 TOPS of computing power and utilizes Xpeng’s second-generation VLA large model to achieve L4-level autonomous driving. The vehicle features privacy glass, gravity seats, and rear entertainment screens.
Following more than 2,000 internal test rides in Guangzhou, Xpeng aims to launch passenger services without safety drivers by 2027. The company plans to expand its services to major Chinese cities and overseas markets through partnerships with mobility platforms. CEO He Xiaopeng expects the robotaxi business in Guangzhou to reach break-even on a per-vehicle basis by the second half of 2027.
