Xpeng recalls 33,000 X9 electric MPVs in China over air‑spring suspension defect

Chinese electric‑vehicle maker Xpeng announced a large‑scale recall of 33,473 X9 MPV units produced between 8 August 2023 and 11 August 2025. The recall targets a front air‑spring suspension component that can leak air in high‑temperature, high‑humidity conditions, potentially compromising vehicle stability and control.

The repair programme, scheduled to start on 28 August 2026, will replace the front air‑spring slide‑pillar assembly at no cost to owners. Drivers are alerted to the issue by dashboard warning lights and on‑screen notifications. The problem was first reported by owners in hot regions such as Chongqing, prompting Xpeng to act before safety risks become more severe.
