XPeng robotics unit Dogotix raises $900M for humanoid robot development

XPeng's robotics subsidiary, Dogotix, has secured over $900 million in its first major funding round, marking a record-breaking private equity achievement in China's embodied AI sector. The investment, led by IDG Capital with participation from Gaorong Ventures and strategic backing from Tencent and Alibaba, values the unit at more than $6.3 billion post-money.

The capital is earmarked for hardware and software R&D, training Physical AI models, and establishing mass-production facilities. A central component of this strategy is the IRON humanoid robot, which features 76 degrees of freedom and is powered by three proprietary Turing AI chips delivering up to 2,250 TOPS of computing power.

XPeng aims to achieve a monthly production capacity of 1,000 IRON units by the end of 2026. Initial deployments are planned for XPeng's own retail stores and industrial campuses, with commercial deliveries to domestic and international customers scheduled to begin in 2027. While the robotics unit operates with significant autonomy, XPeng will maintain controlling ownership and continue to consolidate the business into its financial statements.
