Xpeng to integrate Google Play into electric vehicles

Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer Xpeng has announced an expansion of its strategic collaboration with Google, which will bring Google Play integration to its vehicles' infotainment systems. Scheduled for release in early 2027, the integration will be based on Android Automotive OS and integrated into Xpeng’s AI-powered intelligent cockpit.

The service will allow drivers and passengers to access a wide range of automotive-optimized applications—including music, podcasts, video streaming, news, and games—directly through the vehicle's dashboard without requiring a smartphone. The app catalog will include offerings from over 100 countries and regions, tailored to various markets. Users will also be able to interact with installed applications using Xpeng’s multilingual AI voice assistant.

This development follows the July 2026 integration of Google Maps’ Auto SDK, which enhanced navigation and provided foundational mapping capabilities for Xpeng’s advanced driver-assistance systems in international markets.
