Xpeng to integrate Google Play into vehicle cockpits by 2027

Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer Xpeng is expanding its partnership with Google to integrate Google Play directly into its AI-powered vehicle cockpits. The integration is scheduled to launch in early 2027.

Built on Android Automotive OS, the system will allow drivers and passengers to access hundreds of automotive-optimized applications across more than 100 countries and regions without needing a connected smartphone. Available services will include music, podcasts, video streaming, navigation, news, gaming, and information regarding charging and parking.

The integration is designed to work alongside Xpeng’s existing intelligent cockpit technology and multilingual AI voice assistant. This setup will allow users to interact with downloaded apps via voice commands. Additionally, the platform enables developers to provide app updates independently of major vehicle over-the-air software upgrades, ensuring the in-car experience can evolve continuously.
