XPeng to integrate Google Play into vehicles by 2027

XPeng has announced a native integration of Google Play into its vehicles, scheduled to launch in early 2027. Built on Android Automotive OS, the integration will allow drivers and passengers to access a wide range of automotive-optimized applications directly through the car’s dashboard without requiring a smartphone.

The ecosystem will include services such as music, podcasts, navigation, news, electric vehicle charging information, and entertainment. For parked vehicles, video streaming options will also be available, subject to safety regulations. Because apps are updated via Google Play, the in-car experience can evolve through continuous app updates rather than requiring major full-vehicle over-the-air software updates.

This expansion follows XPeng’s previous integration of Google Maps’ Auto SDK. XPeng Vice President Dr. Xianming Liu noted that the collaboration aims to extend their digital ecosystem, while Google’s Haris Ramic highlighted that the move provides drivers with more choice for entertainment and everyday apps.
