XREAL announces Android XR-powered AURA HMD

XREAL has announced the pricing and pre-order details for its ‘XREAL AURA’, an extended reality (XR) head-mounted display (HMD) powered by Google’s Android XR platform. The device features a unique split design, separating the lightweight video glasses, which weigh approximately 95 grams, from a ‘Compute Pack’ containing the processor, battery, and storage.

The Compute Pack is equipped with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Reality Elite SoC and includes a front-facing touchpad for OS and app navigation. The glasses utilize OLED displays with a resolution of 1920x1200 per eye and are equipped with three cameras for spatial awareness, hand tracking, and environmental recognition.

Two models are available: a 12GB RAM/256GB storage version and a 16GB RAM/512GB storage version. The device can also function as a video display for other USB Type-C devices that support DisplayPort Alternate Mode, such as smartphones and gaming PCs.
