XRP faces network upgrade and Ripple escrow unlock

The XRP network is approaching two significant events. On September 29, a scheduled network upgrade is expected to enhance the XRP Ledger by making it easier to execute multiple simultaneous payments. The upgrade's implementation depends on maintaining sufficient support from network validators, which currently remains above the required threshold.

Separately, Ripple is scheduled for its tenth XRP escrow unlock of the year on October 1, which will release 1 billion XRP. While the notional value of this release is approximately $1.47 billion at current prices, historical data shows that not all unlocked tokens enter the circulating supply. Ripple typically re-escrows a large portion of these tokens; for instance, in previous months, only about 200 million to 300 million tokens actually entered circulation. Market analysts suggest these predictable monthly releases are often already priced in by traders.
