XRP Ledger prepares major protocol upgrade vote

Validators of the XRP Ledger will begin a two‑week voting period to approve the network’s most extensive set of protocol changes in years. Approval requires the support of at least 28 of the 35 validators (over 80%) for two consecutive weeks.

The upgrade package includes five core improvements, notably the Batch feature that enables atomic execution of multiple actions in a single transaction, and Confidential Transfers that use zero‑knowledge proofs to hide token amounts while preserving auditability. Additional changes add Sponsored Fees and Reserves, Permission Delegation, Dynamic Multi‑Purpose Tokens, and a bundle of performance and bug‑fix enhancements expected to improve node memory usage by up to 40%. A security flaw discovered earlier in the Batch implementation has been fixed and audited before reintegration.

If the proposal is accepted, the XRP Ledger will gain greater transaction efficiency, privacy for tokenized assets, and new tooling for developers, without requiring any token‑holder voting.
