XRP Ledger set for v3.3.0 upgrade with five new features
The XRP Ledger (XRPL) is preparing a major software upgrade, xrpld v3.3.0, slated for release next week. Head of Product at RippleX, Jazzi Cooper, announced five protocol amendments that will only become active after approval by independent validators.
The proposals include Confidential MPT, which adds native privacy for Multi‑Purpose Tokens using elliptic‑curve encryption and zero‑knowledge proofs; Batch, enabling multiple transactions to be executed atomically in a single ledger; Permission Delegation, allowing institutions to grant narrowly scoped transaction permissions without relinquishing signing authority; Sponsored Fees and Reserves, letting banks or platforms cover XRP transaction fees and reserve requirements for users; and Dynamic MPT, permitting issuers to modify token properties such as transfer fees or metadata after issuance.
Cooper said, “XRPL has already proven it can support tokenized assets at scale. Now it’s time to put these assets to use: global transfers, trading, collateralizing, and settling.” The upgrade aims to strengthen tokenization, institutional finance, and real‑world asset (RWA) applications on the ledger.
