XRP Ledger security update delayed to November 4
The activation of the XRP Ledger (XRPL) maintenance amendment, fixCleanup3_4_0, has been rescheduled to November 4. The update was originally expected on October 23 but faced a delay after validator support briefly fell below the required 80% threshold.
Under XRPL governance rules, an amendment requires more than 80% support from trusted validators for a continuous 14-day period to be activated. On October 21, support dropped from the necessary 29 out of 35 validators to 26, triggering a reset of the mandatory countdown. While support has since recovered to 31 validators, the timeline has been pushed back.
The fixCleanup3_4_0 update is designed to address technical issues, including precision and rounding corrections for vault transactions, improvements to lending default processing, and fixes related to asset freezing and permissions. This maintenance is distinct from the activation of the native lending protocol, which requires separate validator approval and a dedicated 14-day support period.
