XRP Ledger surpasses Ethereum in commodity tokenization
The XRP Ledger (XRPL) has outperformed Ethereum in the tokenization of commodities, attracting approximately $2.2 billion in net inflows for the period ending September 11, 2026, compared to $1.6 billion for Ethereum.
Despite this growth in real-world asset tokenization, the price of XRP has faced downward pressure. As of October 9, XRP was trading at approximately $1.40, representing a 51% decrease from the previous year and a 62% drop from its former high of $3.65.
Analysts suggest a decoupling between ledger activity and native token demand. Much of the ecosystem's activity, including stablecoins and tokenized securities, utilizes other assets for principal value. While XRP is required for transaction fees and account reserves, the direct economic leverage provided by these fees remains relatively small compared to the total volume of assets moving across the network.
