XRP Ledger v3.3.0 Upgrade Adds Sponsored Fees, Confidential Transfers and Batch Transactions

The XRP Ledger confirmed its move from version 3.2.1 to 3.3.0, introducing six new protocol features aimed at institutional adoption. The upgrade includes a Batch function that lets up to eight transactions be bundled and settled atomically, a Permission Delegation tool for selective control sharing, and a Sponsor feature that allows companies to cover XRP reserve costs for end‑users.

Confidential Transfers add limited privacy by hiding token balances while still proving transaction validity, and zero‑knowledge proofs further enhance privacy for token transfers. The network also adds a new token standard and other minor improvements. Validators must achieve 80 % support for two consecutive weeks before the changes go live.

RippleX head of product Jazzi Cooper highlighted that the Sponsor and Confidential Transfer capabilities are designed to close the gap for banks and other institutions that have been hesitant to use the ledger, potentially paving the way for broader commercial use.
