XRP price recovers as whales accumulate $2.2 billion in tokens

Large-scale investors, often referred to as whales, have accumulated approximately 1.54 billion XRP, valued at roughly $2.2 billion, over a 96-hour period ending September 19, 2026. This massive buying spree coincided with an 8.22% price recovery, which lifted the token from lows near $1.24 to intraday highs between $1.45 and $1.48.

Institutional interest remains high, with CoinShares reporting an increase in holdings to 148.66 million XRP, and Franklin Templeton clients acquiring approximately $1.5 million worth of the token. Additionally, Ondo Finance has launched a tokenized US Treasury fund, OUSG, on the XRP Ledger, utilizing the RLUSD stablecoin for transactions, marking a milestone for government debt settlement on the network.

Market activity is also notable in South Korea, where XRP became the most traded coin on the Upbit exchange, surpassing Bitcoin's daily volume. While Volatility Shares has delayed the launch of its 3x leveraged XRP ETF to October 18, the product remains active in the regulatory process.
