Bitcoin and XRP rally as ETF inflows and whale accumulation drive market surge

The cryptocurrency market is experiencing a significant rally, led by Bitcoin and XRP. Bitcoin has climbed above $86,000, driven by massive inflows into US spot ETFs, which saw nearly $1 billion in net inflows on September 21, 2026. This surge triggered a major short squeeze, liquidating over $300 million in short positions within a single hour as Bitcoin crossed the $84,000 threshold.

XRP is also showing strong momentum, trading near the $1.55-$1.60 range. This recovery follows a massive accumulation phase where large whale wallets purchased approximately 1.54 billion XRP, valued at $2.2 billion, within a 96-hour window. Analysts have noted that a decisive break above $1.60 could signal further upside, with some technical targets reaching as high as $5.40.

Despite the bullish trend, the market faces regulatory and macroeconomic headwinds. The US Senate recently failed to pass the CLARITY Act, falling short of the required 60 votes with a 49-50 result. Additionally, recent interest rate hikes by the Federal Reserve and the Bank of Japan have introduced volatility into global liquidity, though Bitcoin has largely remained resilient against these pressures.
