XRP research gains attention amid US-Iran tensions

A 2021 research study conducted in Iran regarding Ripple’s XRP has gained renewed attention due to escalating tensions between the United States and Iran. The study examines the potential of XRP for fast, cheap, and adaptable international settlements, particularly in the context of sanctions and the need for alternative international transfers.

The quantitative research utilizes Monte Carlo simulations, the Hidden Markov Model, and the Heston stochastic volatility model to analyze market behavior. It also incorporates 95% VaR and CVaR to assess downside risk and uses “3σ jump detection” to identify significant price fluctuations during extreme market conditions.

The report focuses on three specific RippleNet corridors: USD/MXN, EUR/NGN, and JPY/KRW. While the study’s resurgence is linked to current geopolitical instability, the research itself does not explicitly state that Iran will adopt XRP as a payment method.
