XRP theft: $20 million stolen from 6,678 wallets

Approximately $20 million worth of XRP was stolen from 6,678 different wallets between September 15 and September 20. The theft occurred in six waves, involving the removal of 11.75 million XRP from various accounts.

Large portions of the stolen funds were moved through THORChain, while other amounts were sent to the unionchain.ai exchange, NEAR Intents, and Binance deposit addresses. About 1.31 million XRP remains in the targeted wallets. Technical analysis indicates the operations utilized AccountDelete transactions, which were signed with legitimate keys.

DCENT reported its first customer complaint regarding the incident on September 16 in South Korea. The company is currently collaborating with law enforcement, security experts, and blockchain projects. DCENT has advised users, particularly those using App Wallet versions prior to 8.1.0, to move their assets to a new recovery phrase to prevent further losses.
