XTB launches spot crypto trading in Chile as its shares hit record despite platform outage
XTB, a Polish brokerage, announced it will offer spot cryptocurrency trading on its platform in Chile, becoming the first non‑European market where clients can buy and sell crypto assets directly rather than via derivatives. The launch includes 46 crypto assets with plans to expand the list. XTB’s CEO Omar Arnaout said the move targets younger investors and is part of the firm’s goal to become a leading European investment platform. Expansion to Spain is planned for 2026, while entry into Poland is delayed because of missing national regulations required to implement the EU’s MiCA framework.
Two days later, XTB’s shares reached a new high of PLN 155.22, despite a technical outage that affected its trading platform during the US market opening. Users reported that the web and mobile interfaces were unavailable for up to an hour, with complaints from Poland and Latin America. The broker did not issue a formal statement, but the share price continued to rise, driven by a strong quarterly earnings report that beat forecasts. XTB reported Q2 revenue of PLN 992.6 million and net profit of PLN 492.2 million, with a 79.7 % increase in first‑half operating revenue.
