Xàtiva implements Pictosalut project to improve healthcare accessibility
The Ausiàs March Health Center in Xàtiva has introduced the Pictosalut project, an initiative designed to enhance cognitive accessibility within healthcare spaces. By installing pictograms throughout the facility, the project aims to facilitate easier identification of rooms, better orientation, and improved understanding of instructions.
Led by the AXATEA Association, the initiative is a collaborative effort involving the Xàtiva City Council's Education Department, the Xàtiva-Ontinyent Health Department, and the Pla de la Mesquita Special Education Center. The use of pictographic language serves as an alternative communication method that is particularly beneficial for individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), communication difficulties, or other special educational needs.
