Xuan Hinh completes 5,500m2 estate and Dao Mau Museum in Hanoi

Artist Xuan Hinh has completed a 5,500-square-meter estate in the outskirts of Hanoi named ‘Linh Tu - Uong nuoc nho nguon’. Designed by ARB Architects and completed in 2023, the project integrates contemporary architecture with traditional Northern Vietnamese village aesthetics.

The estate serves both as a family residence and as the Dao Mau Museum, a space dedicated to worship, artifact display, and the preservation of traditional cultural values. A notable feature of the construction is the use of approximately 5 million ancient tiles and 1 million ancient bricks, which the artist collected from hundreds of local homes over many years.

Rather than clearing the site, the design preserves the existing 50-year-old garden, including its fruit trees, pines, and original structures. The new functional blocks, such as the living quarters and exhibition rooms, are arranged around these existing natural and historical elements to minimize environmental impact.
