Xuan Thien Ninh Binh to launch 28 trillion VND hydropower project in Son La

Xuan Thien Ninh Binh Co., Ltd. is set to begin construction on the Dong Phu Yen pumped storage hydropower project in Son La province. The project, located in Muong Bang commune, has a total estimated investment of nearly 28,000 billion VND, divided into two phases: approximately 21,500 billion VND for the first phase and 6,400 billion VND for the second.

The facility is designed with a capacity of 1,200 MW across four units. It aims to generate electricity during peak hours for up to seven hours daily, supporting national energy security and grid regulation.

Nguyen Thanh Cong, Vice Chairman of the Son La Provincial People's Committee, has approved the plan to hold the groundbreaking ceremony on November 15, 2026. Local authorities have been tasked with assisting the company in completing legal procedures, forest land-use conversions, and site clearance to ensure the project stays on schedule.
