Xueshankeng Tribe launches ecotourism empowerment program
The Forestry and Nature Conservation Agency's Taichung Branch has launched the Xueshankeng Tribe Ecotourism Community Empowerment Program. The initiative aims to develop local ecological tourism guiding and interpretation skills by leveraging the natural landscapes and Atayal cultural heritage of the Xueshankeng area.
In August, the program conducted training sessions focusing on Atayal ethnobotany. Participants engaged in both classroom learning and field walks to identify local plant species and understand their cultural significance. The training integrates traditional knowledge from tribal elders and hunters regarding forest utilization and mountain life, aiming to create unique tourism experiences that combine ecological education with indigenous cultural memory.
