Xunta de Galicia demands Sareb complete housing adjudication in Narón
The Xunta de Galicia has demanded that the asset management company Sareb complete the pending adjudication of seven protected housing units in Narón. Heriberto García Porto, the General Secretary of Housing and Urbanism, stated in the Galician Parliament that the properties must be offered to individuals on the reserve list following a previously conducted lottery.
The Galician Housing and Land Institute (IGVS) has initiated preliminary proceedings to investigate the matter, as the delay may constitute an infringement of the Galician Housing Law. The Xunta warned that if the convocatoria for these residents does not occur in the coming days, it will proceed with a formal sanctioning file.
García Porto also highlighted a broader issue, noting that approximately 2,500 properties owned by Sareb remain paralyzed in Galician municipalities with populations exceeding 10,000. The regional government has called on the central government to stop blocking the commercialization or transfer of these assets to autonomous communities to help expand the public housing stock.
