Xuper TV APK poses security risks for Android and Smart TV users

Security experts and cybersecurity organizations are warning against the installation of Xuper TV APK, an application linked to the former Magis TV. The app, which offers free access to movies, series, and live sports, is not available through official channels like Google Play or the Apple App Store. Instead, users must perform manual sideloading from third-party websites, often requiring them to disable system protections to allow installation from unknown sources.

Cybersecurity analyses from firms such as ESET and warnings from Spain’s National Cybersecurity Institute (INCIBE) indicate that these files can request invasive permissions far beyond what a video player requires. These permissions may include access to storage, SMS, notifications, and running applications. Malicious versions of the APK can be used by hackers to hijack devices, steal banking passwords, access personal documents, and leak sensitive information onto the dark web.
