Xuxa criticizes carnival designer over tribute recognition
Brazilian presenter Xuxa has publicly responded to comments made by carnival designer Cahê Rodrigues, calling his demand for recognition ‘undesirable’ and ‘unprofessional’. The dispute arose after Rodrigues, who was responsible for the 2004 Caprichosos de Pilares parade themed after the presenter, suggested that Xuxa should include references to the samba school in her upcoming December show at the Maracanã stadium.
In a video comment, Xuxa stated that Rodrigues had never contacted her directly and questioned why she should be expected to constantly mention every tribute received during her 43-year career. While she expressed gratitude to all professionals who have been part of her history, she criticized the suggestion that she must name specific schools as a form of thanks.
Rodrigues previously remarked in a podcast interview that Xuxa used to live in a ‘crystal bubble’ and felt a lack of recognition for the tribute that featured her family and several child actors. He expressed a desire for the artist to use her upcoming performance to acknowledge the samba schools that have featured her story on the avenue.
