Xuxa Meneghel addresses conspiracy theories and deepfake videos

Brazilian television presenter Xuxa Meneghel has addressed two distinct forms of misinformation targeting her public image.

First, she responded to long-standing conspiracy theories suggesting she made a spiritual pact to achieve fame. Reacting to a video discussing these rumors, which originated in religious sectors during her peak popularity in the 1980s and 1990s, Meneghel questioned how such narratives ignore her faith, stating, “And God, who gave me everything, where does he fit into this story?”

Additionally, Meneghel denounced the use of deepfake technology to create fraudulent videos. She reported that her image and voice are being used in unauthorized videos to solicit votes for upcoming elections. The presenter clarified that she has not recorded any political material and warned that those responsible for the deepfakes will face legal consequences.
