Xuyen A Vinh Long Hospital treats 40-year-old man for acute stroke

A 40-year-old man from Dong Thap, Vietnam, was successfully treated for an acute ischemic stroke at Xuyen A Vinh Long General Hospital. The patient experienced sudden dizziness, loss of balance, and left-sided weakness while at home.

Medical staff identified the condition as an acute ischemic stroke caused by a cerebral artery blockage affecting the cerebellum and the left pons. Because the patient arrived within the second hour of symptom onset, doctors administered emergency thrombolytic therapy (rTPA).

Following the administration of rTPA, the patient's paralysis improved within one hour. After one week of treatment and monitoring in the Stroke Unit, the patient recovered sufficiently to walk normally without significant neurological deficits and was discharged.
