XYZ and GALAXEA partner to develop real-world robot applications
AI robotics company XYZ and Chinese robotics firm GALAXEA have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to develop robot applications for real-world environments. The partnership aims to expand the robotics market in South Korea by integrating XYZ’s ‘BrainX’ robot intelligence framework into GALAXEA’s hardware.
Under the agreement, XYZ will act as the local partner in Korea, leading software optimization and technical verification for various industrial settings. The companies plan to expand their collaboration into retail automation, clothing folding, and factory operations. They intend to use data collected from actual work sites to create a feedback loop that continuously improves robot performance and environmental adaptability.
In preliminary technical testing, XYZ applied BrainX to GALAXEA’s ‘R1 Lite’ hardware. During clothing folding tasks, the system reportedly achieved speeds more than twice as fast as NVIDIA’s GR00T 1.6 model. XYZ CEO Hwang Seong-jae stated that the company is focusing on developing goal-oriented models specialized for specific tasks to ensure immediate commercial viability in industrial fields.
