Yaşar Karaduman, a 52-year-old dispatch operator for the Tire Fire Group under the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, has served in the fire department for 24 years. Karaduman was born with osteogenesis imperfecta, a genetic condition commonly known as brittle bone disease, which led doctors to predict he would not live past age 10.

He began his career as a subcontractor for Tire Municipality in 2000 and successfully passed an exam for disabled individuals in 2002 to join the fire department. Due to his height of 110 centimeters and the fact that the fire emergency number was 110 at the time, he became widely known as ‘110 Yaşar’.

In his current role, Karaduman manages correspondence and coordinates the relaying of emergency reports to relevant teams. He expressed a desire to have worked in field search and rescue, noting the fulfillment found in saving lives and property.
