YABATECH hosts entrepreneurship lecture and business contest

Yaba College of Technology (YABATECH) recently hosted the 2nd Annual Lecture Series of the Folawiyo Entrepreneurship Centre (FEC), focusing on the theme of real estate development business in Nigeria. The event aimed to encourage students and staff to view national socio-economic challenges as opportunities for innovation, entrepreneurship, and sustainable development.

As part of the program, the FEC organized a business idea contest featuring 32 proposals from students and staff. Winners shared N1.8 million in cash prizes. In the student category, Komolafe Joseph secured first place, followed by Olaleye Femi and Raymond Egbuson. The staff category winners included Babatunde Adesoji Atiba, Abdulwakeel Oluwatobi Atóyèbí, and Adebola Karamah Shogbuyi. Chief Tunde Fanimokun provided additional donations to the winners, and the college pledged scholarship support to help develop the winning business ideas.

Dr. Ibraheem Abdul, the Rector of YABATECH, emphasized the institution's mission to produce graduates who act as value creators and employers rather than just job seekers. The lecture series featured Professor Timothy Gbenga Nubi, who discussed building resilient communities through clean water, clean energy, and innovation.
