Yacouta Dam begins first fish harvest in Liptako region

The first harvest of fish raised in floating cages at the Yacouta Dam has officially begun in the Dori commune of the Liptako region. Launched on August 24, 2026, by Liptako Governor Abdoul Karim Zongo, the initiative marks the completion of a project started six months ago.

The project utilizes 18 floating cages and is expected to yield a total production of 15 tonnes. This local production aims to increase fish availability, support the regional economy, and create new opportunities for the populations of Dori and surrounding villages.

The initiative aligns with national food sovereignty goals to prioritize the valuation of national resources and local production development.
