YADO/Re hotel opens in Fukuoka with integrated botanical design

The YADO/Re hotel has opened in Yakuin, Fukuoka, following a full renovation of a building originally constructed in 2004 as a student dormitory. The project features extensive botanical integration designed to make the building appear as if it is being embraced by greenery.

The landscaping includes a variety of plants such as black pine, banksia, and fruit trees like lychee and blood orange, arranged at different heights to create a natural presence within the urban environment.

Additionally, the project's designer was invited to the Singapore Garden Festival, where they presented a garden themed around the Japanese 'tokonoma' (alcove), created through a collaboration between Japanese and Singaporean artisans.
