Yaduveer Wadiyar calls for protocol at Mysuru Dasara rituals
Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar, the Mysuru royal scion and BJP MP for Mysuru-Kodagu, has called for a clear protocol regarding the Nandi Dhwaja worship ritual during the Mysuru Dasara celebrations.
The request follows a political controversy in Karnataka after police officers briefly prevented senior Dalit ministers from attending the traditional puja. Wadiyar stated that the presence of the Chief Minister and one or two officials should be sufficient for the ceremony, noting that large crowds are unnecessary for the ritual.
He remarked that the royal family has not historically insisted on the presence of numerous officials and suggested that the government, which organizes the program, should decide on appropriate attendance to ensure rituals are conducted properly. Wadiyar indicated he would offer suggestions for future celebrations to improve the festival's planning.
