Yaesu Core redevelopment project named for Tokyo station district
A major redevelopment project in the Yaesu district of Tokyo, known as the Yaesu 2-Chome Nakachiku First-Class Urban Redevelopment Project, has been officially named ‘YAESU CORE’. The large-scale mixed-use development is being driven by a consortium including Mitsui Fudosan, Hankyu Hanshin Properties, Sumitomo Realty & Development, Kajima Corporation, and the Urban Renaissance Agency.
Scheduled for completion in late January 2029, the 227-meter-tall structure will consist of 43 floors above ground and 3 floors below ground. The facility will house diverse functions, including large-scale office spaces on floors 11 through 38, service apartments on the top floors, an international school with athletic facilities, and a bus terminal in the basement.
Cultural and commercial components include a new 1,300-seat theater operated by Umeda Arts Theater, intended to host musicals and concerts, and a commercial zone spanning four levels. The commercial area will feature approximately 50 stores, including a planned branch of the Yaesu Book Center, and will connect to Tokyo Midtown Yaesu to create a combined retail space of over 100 stores.
