Yaga series reimagines Baba Yaga folklore for AMC+

The upcoming AMC+ folk horror series ‘Yaga’ is reimagining the Slavic Baba Yaga folklore through a contemporary mystery thriller lens. Based on a play by Kit Sandler, the series follows a private investigator tasked with finding Henry Park, a young heir to a powerful fishery who has disappeared from the coastal town of Whittock.

The investigation leads the protagonist into conflict with a local detective and a charismatic university professor, Katherine, played by Carrie-Anne Moss. The narrative incorporates elements of ancient magic and supernatural mystery, set against a backdrop of small-town secrets.

Actor Sam Krochmal, who portrays Billy Granger, discussed the production at TIFF 2026, noting the high stakes of the series and the effort to avoid using his character as a mere comedic device. The show is scheduled for a two-episode premiere on October 23, 2026.
