Cole Houshmand wins WSL Fiji Pro after defeating Gabriel Medina

American surfer Cole Houshmand won the Fiji Pro, the eighth stage of the World Surf League (WSL) Championship Tour, at Cloudbreak. In a highly competitive men's final, Houshmand defeated three-time world champion Gabriel Medina with a total score of 16.87 to 15.17. Despite Medina scoring a perfect 10 on a single wave late in the heat, Houshmand's consistent performance secured his third CT victory and moved him up to 17th in the season rankings.

In the women's division, Canadian Erin Brooks claimed the title. Her victory was confirmed following the withdrawal of Australian Isabela Nichols, who sustained an ankle injury during the semifinals. This marks Brooks' second consecutive CT win.

Medina's second-place finish moves him up to fourth in the overall season rankings. The next WSL event is scheduled to take place in Lower Trestles, California, from September 11 to 20.
