Yahaya Bello vows victory in 2027 Kogi Central senatorial race

Former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello has declared his intention to contest the 2027 Kogi Central senatorial election, vowing a ‘decisive victory’ over the incumbent, Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan.

Bello, running under the All Progressives Congress (APC), stated during a television appearance that the upcoming election will demonstrate his political strength and secure ‘massive votes’ for both himself and the APC. Akpoti-Uduaghan, who represents the district for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), is expected to defend her seat.

The potential electoral showdown follows a history of intense political rivalry and public animosity between the two figures. Their relationship has previously been marked by legal battles and serious accusations, including claims made by Bello in 2022 regarding Akpoti-Uduaghan’s alleged involvement in local incidents, which the senator has denied.
