Yaho Brewing launches bat‑upcycled beer project and tipping glass to boost responsible drinking
Yaho Brewing, a craft‑beer maker based in Karuizawa, Nagano, is running its third‑year "Sora to Shiba Bat Beer Project". The initiative lets fans process broken wooden bats used by Hokkaido Nippon‑Ham Fighters players into a limited‑edition craft lager. Events will be held at the Hokkaido stadium in September and at the Fighters' Kamagaya stadium in Chiba, with a bottle‑opening ceremony planned for late November. The beer will be sold as a seasonal series, and the up‑cycling effort is promoted as part of the company’s SD‑goals, with leftover wood turned into key‑chain souvenirs.
In a separate innovation, Yaho Brewing has introduced the "Furatsuku Beer Glass" that tips over when only beer is poured, forcing users to add an equal amount of water to keep the glass upright. The glass, priced at ¥13,750, began reservation sales on August 5 and will be distributed to restaurants and bars nationwide, including a trial at the JAL Sakura Lounge at Chubu International Airport. The design aims to encourage proper hydration during drinking, a concern highlighted by a survey in which 75 % of respondents admitted they rarely drink water while consuming alcohol.
