Yahoo! Kids to end service in December 2026

LINE Yahoo has announced that it will terminate its children's portal site, Yahoo! Kids, on December 4, 2026. The service, which launched in 1997, provided a safe internet environment for children through filtered search results, educational content, and various games.

The company cited changes in the digital landscape as the primary reason for the closure. While the service originally focused on PC-based web browsing, children's internet usage has expanded to include smartphones, social media, video platforms, and generative AI. LINE Yahoo stated it intends to shift its focus toward digital literacy education, internet trouble countermeasures, and collaboration with schools and parents rather than maintaining a dedicated portal.

To mark the end of the service, a special commemorative page will be released in November 2026. The site will remain accessible to users until December 3, 2026.
